Kayaking West Virginia
There really is no better way to relax and enjoy our beautiful state than via our waterways. This past summer a friend introduced me to kayaking and I fell in love with it.
I purchased my own kayak a couple days later and spent the end of the summer paddling from place to place on the Cheat River in Tucker County enjoying the solitude and peacefulness of the river.
Next summer will see me posting, even more, kayaking articles and photos as I plan on traveling a bit more and enjoying my new hobby on several of the lakes and streams that dot the landscape of the Mountain State both alone and with my family who have also taken a liking to my new adventure.
I know my wife is tired of hearing me ask her to go kayaking in the wintertime and thinks I'm a bit crazy for wanting to risk being frozen on the river but honestly I'm chomping at the bit to get back out and once again partake in my favorite hobby.
Stay tuned to the blog and Facebook page in the coming months as I'll be back out and about when the snow melts and the temperatures once again begin to climb. I also plan on picking up my fishing license in the spring as my kayak has pole holders and I'm itching to try those out as well.
I'll be looking to hit the Cheat River, Dryfork River, Shavers Fork River, Blackwater River, Blackfork River, Mt. Storm Lake, Teter Creek Lake, and maybe a few others to begin with as I nail down all the local options before heading further out in the state to explore. As always I'll post pictures thanks to my new waterproof camera and stories about the things I see and places I go.
